Well, from what I gathered (I’m a tad rusty, I haven’t looked it up in a while) Both Halloween and Christmas were ways for Christians to wipe out pagan rituals among common folk and whatnot.
the christians did do a lot of sneaky tomfoolery, i’m not going to argue that; but most thing society does commercially is based in pagan tradition. and the christian stories are still, for the most part, the same base idea
but that’s how most religions are. the same base idea just told differently.
Hello! Bubble burster, here! The Christians created these holidays to WIPE OUT the Pagan rituals that were to be held on that day! In reality, they didn’t rename the holidays, they just made new ones to snuff out the old.
actually a lot of christan holidays are verbatim pagan
example: easter
(this is about to be a generalization because all pagans believe different things. this is just what i know from my own research)
pagan easter practice was meant to celebrate the rebirth of the god of the sun/the god of life.
christan easter is the celebration of jesus’ resurrection.
easter commercialized:
pagan easter is represented by baby animals, namely ducks and rabbits. parents would color eggs and hide them in their children’s rooms and when the children would find and eat them, they would be symbolically reborn.
